2022 Gender Equality Report
Rapporto Parità di Genere 2022

Starting from June 23, it will be possible to complete online the so-called 2022 Gender Equality Report, more precisely defined as the “periodic report on the male and female workforce situation”.

This summary report, mandatory for companies with more than 50 employees, was introduced by the Equal Opportunities Code (Legislative Decree 198/2006), recently amended by Law 162/2021.

CMG briefly answers some frequently asked questions regarding this mandatory report recently introduced in Italy.

What is the company gender equality report

The gender equality report is a form to be completed electronically, introduced to monitor gender and pay equality levels within Italian companies. The report is biennial. It must include a series of information regarding the working conditions of female and male employees, both in relation to the overall production activities and workforce, and with reference to each company production unit with more than 50 employees.

It must contain:

  • precise indications on the number of employees divided by gender, with specific data on starting salaries, type of employment contract, and duties performed by each employee;
  • the amount of total remuneration paid, additional salary components, allowances, and bonuses;
  • the methods of access to the report by employees and trade union representatives;
  • information on recruitment and selection processes carried out to hire personnel;
  • measures, where applicable, intended to support work-life balance.

When and how to complete the report

Companies are required to prepare the report electronically through the dedicated portal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies https://servizi.lavoro.gov.it. The form for drafting the report will be available online starting from June 23, 2022, for documentation relating to the 2020-2021 two-year period. The deadline for submitting the information has been set for this year as September 30, 2022. For future years, the deadline date will be different, probably during springtime. In addition to the online submission, companies are also required to send a copy of the report to company trade union representatives.

What is the objective of this measure

The main objective of this measure is to make the principle of equality in the workplace effective, first of all by monitoring what is actually happening within the country. At the end of the submission process, the National Equality Councillor will process the data for the preparation of an annual report on the overall situation in Italian companies.
